IBM's collaboration with this recognition program is one more way to let
employees know that their contributions of time and talent are making a
difference. To date, more than 4.8 million hours have been recorded
worldwide by IBM volunteers, of which more than 320,000 hours have been
recorded by active and retired employees in Minnesota. Many of our ODC
volunteers leveraged their volunteerism through ODC Community Grants. Their
generosity, coupled with IBM’s support of volunteerism, benefits many
school and nonprofit organizations! In 2006, Minnesota nonprofit
organizations and schools benefited from more than $730,000 in ODC grants
earned by these volunteers.

Please help keep the ODC momentum going by logging hours served, earning
community grants for nonprofit and school partners and engaging other
IBMers, active and retired, to register and become IBM ODC volunteers! This
is a tremendous resource that benefits our communities!

About the President's Volunteer Service Award

The President's Volunteer Service Award is issued by the President's
Council on Service and Civic Participation, a group created by President
George W. Bush to help foster a culture of service, citizenship and a sense
of responsibility by encouraging outstanding volunteer service and civic
participation. Chaired by two-time Super Bowl Champion Darrell Green, with
former U.S. Senators Bob Dole and John Glenn as honorary co-chairs, the
Council is composed of leaders in government, media, entertainment,
business, education, nonprofits and volunteer service organizations and
community volunteering.

Retirees interested in being recognized with the 2008 President's Volunteer
Service Award must log their volunteer hours for 2007 no later than January
31, 2008.  Click here to learn more about ODC volunteering.
